Academic Director’s Welcome
Welcome to UBC and the UBC-Ritsumeikan Academic Exchange Programs!
Thank you for visiting our website.
As Academic Director, it gives me immense pleasure to provide you with information about our programs. Alongside our team of dedicated instructors and committed staff members, I am proud to provide the support and guidance that students need to be successful in their study-abroad experience at UBC.
Our programs are designed to provide students with a challenging academic experience while being immersed in a multicultural setting at a world class university. With small classes and trained instructors we are pleased to offer unique learning opportunities to help our students in their English language development.
Your study-abroad year is a significant milestone in your academic life and I encourage you to take advantage of what UBC has to offer in enriching your learning experience.
Please feel free to send me an email if you have any questions. I also welcome you to drop by my office to say hello. I am always interested in hearing from students about their interests and their experiences at UBC.
All the very best to you!
Reginald Arthur D’Silva, PhD.
Program Manager’s Welcome
Welcome to Vancouver and UBC!
As Program Manager, for 27 years, it’s been my pleasure to help guide students to supports and services on and off campus. If you wish to get to know more about our campus and the surrounding community then please take the time to visit my office. We are located in Room 333 of UBC Ritsumeikan Residence and it would be nice to chat with you to find out what your needs and goals are for the duration of your study abroad.
My position as Program Manager, is to support students, staff and instructors that are participating in the UBC Ritsumeikan Academic Exchange Programs. I am a 29 year employee of U.B.C. and I have lived most of my life in British Columbia so I do have some ideas and suggestions for how you might become more involved inside and outside of the gates that surround our lovely campus. With a certificate in volunteer management I can also give students some practical information about opportunities to network beyond the campus if they have time and interest.
Enjoy your study abroad experience and don’t hesitate to contact me.
Rits On-site Coordinator Welcome
As an employee of Ritsumeikan University I am here to support our cohort during their year abroad. My main focus will be to work closely with my UBC colleagues to assist Ritsumeikan students with their transition in and out of UBC.
In addition to the on-site student support I will also assist students with contacting their faculties in Japan; with guidance and registration procedures for courses in Japan; and with special events and activities that students might wish to organize during the year in Vancouver.
Aside from my role supporting students I am also here for others that wish to contact Ritsumeikan University colleagues, whether it be for study abroad or for field trips or other business. I can help you connect to Japan and Ritsumeikan campuses departments and administrators.
Please send me an email or visit me in Rits Office during this academic year. I look forward to assisting you.
