Academic Director’s Welcome
Welcome to UBC and the UBC-Ritsumeikan Academic Exchange Programs!
Thank you for visiting our website.
As Academic Director, it gives me immense pleasure to provide you with information about our programs. Alongside our team of dedicated instructors and committed staff members, I am proud to provide the support and guidance that students need to be successful in their study-abroad experience at UBC.
Our programs are designed to provide students with a challenging academic experience while being immersed in a multicultural setting at a world class university. With small classes and trained instructors we are pleased to offer unique learning opportunities to help our students in their English language development.
Your study-abroad year is a significant milestone in your academic life and I encourage you to take advantage of what UBC has to offer in enriching your learning experience.
Please feel free to send me an email if you have any questions. I also welcome you to drop by my office to say hello. I am always interested in hearing from students about their interests and their experiences at UBC.
All the very best to you!
Ryan Deschambault, PhD.
Program Manager’s Welcome to Students
Welcome to Vancouver and UBC!
As Program Manager, for 32 years, it has been my pleasure to help guide students to supports and services on and off campus. If you wish to get to know more about our campus and the surrounding community then please take the time to visit my office. Our team is located in Room 333 of UBC Ritsumeikan Residence and it would be nice to chat with you to find out what your needs and goals are for the duration of your study abroad.
My position as Program Manager, is to support students, staff and instructors that are participating in the UBC Ritsumeikan Academic Exchange Programs. I am a 34 year employee of U.B.C. and I have lived most of my life in British Columbia so I do have some ideas and suggestions for how you might become more involved inside and outside of the gates that surround our lovely campus. My certificate in volunteer management also helps me to assist students to learn more about the many opportunities to network beyond the campus. I look forward to getting to know you and to chat with you about many topics of interest.
Enjoy your study abroad experience and don’t hesitate to contact me.
Welcome from Ritsumeikan, Kyoto Office
Konnichiwa!
As an employee of Ritsumeikan University I will remain connected to our cohort during their 2022-23 academic year abroad from my office in Japan.
I will be at UBC for the cohort arrival to campus and will make another site visit during the academic year.
My main focus will be to work closely with my UBC colleagues to ensure Ritsumeikan students’ transition to UBC is smooth and safe.
I can help you connect to Japan and Ritsumeikan campuses, departments and administrators.
Please send me an email during this academic year. I look forward to assisting you.
